Electro! (2009-04-21)

DJ Mark CI’ve been wanting to record an electro-only mix for a while, but I never really got around to do it… until now. Usually, I would only play one or two electro tracks in an evening and call it a day since most people don’t appreciate it as much as more mainstream house music (“can you play something else than techno?” usually sounds familiar when I play those tracks, although I sometimes hear that for house music too… and yes, that’s right, many people can’t make out the difference between electro, house and techno).

But this time, I wanted to record a mix for me, with many awesome tracks I usually don’t get around to playing at events. I don’t play them because I can tell, with the crowds I mix for, that I will probably be the only one that will really appreciate those tracks… so I keep them to myself.

There’s more after the break, including a download link to the mix.

Now this mix obviously won’t please as many people as the other mixes I’ve posted here will, since electro music isn’t nearly as popular, but it’s still excellent music (well, in my opinion at least… haha). Many people might disagree but musical taste is very subjective, and an entirely other discussion that I really don’t want to get into 😛

There are some very recent tracks in there (a couple weeks old) and some much older tracks (a few years old at least), but that doesn’t really matter, it’s all good music 🙂

You can download the mix here (right-click the link, and then choose “Save As”, to save the mix to your computer).

Note that there are a few glitches during the recording, I’m working to figure out why I get those glitches, they have been happening more and more recently… it’s weird. I don’t know if it’s the mixer, the sound card, the card’s driver or the software yet.

Please let me know (in the comments section below) what you think about the mix if you download it!

Tech specs: as usual… 24-bit/96 kHz digital S/PDIF stream from the DJM-800 mixer, with CDJ-1000 mk3 CD players (connected digitally as well to the mixer). The mix was normalized (peak set to 0 dB), slightly compressed, downsampled (to 16-bit/48 kHz) and encoded to m4a.
