Electro! (2009-04-21)

April 21st, 2009

DJ Mark CI’ve been wanting to record an electro-only mix for a while, but I never really got around to do it… until now. Usually, I would only play one or two electro tracks in an evening and call it a day since most people don’t appreciate it as much as more mainstream house music (“can you play something else than techno?” usually sounds familiar when I play those tracks, although I sometimes hear that for house music too… and yes, that’s right, many people can’t make out the difference between electro, house and techno).

But this time, I wanted to record a mix for me, with many awesome tracks I usually don’t get around to playing at events. I don’t play them because I can tell, with the crowds I mix for, that I will probably be the only one that will really appreciate those tracks… so I keep them to myself.

There’s more after the break, including a download link to the mix.

Live at Club Soda (2009-02-27)

Live at Club Soda

I was DJing at Club Soda (downtown Montreal) last friday, for the PROMODE 2009 event, organized by École Polytechnique’s Promo 133.

The evening started as a fashion show from 8:30 PM to about 10:30 PM, when the actual party started. The first DJ was mixing (and did a great job at starting the party and getting people to dance) from then until around 11:50 PM, when I took over. Then, I was mixing until around 1:05 AM, when the last DJ took over for the rest of the night.

It was a great evening, and I had lots of fun being there and DJing too. I hope the people that were there enjoyed it as much as I did! There must have been lots of work put into this evening to make it work like it did, because everything went smoothly throughout the night.

More after the break, including a download link to my mix, which was recorded live. Read the rest of this entry »

Party Mix (2008-12-31)

January 16th, 2009

I’ve recorded a party mix to be played after my last party starter mix, at a party one of my friends was hosting for new year’s eve. I couldn’t mix live so I had to record it in advance, in order to play it on his sound system when I got there.

Party Starter Mix (2008-12-20)

December 30th, 2008

I’ve recently recorded a new mix. Its goal is to help start a party by warming people up, without playing too many hits either, since it would be played at the beginning of a party. It seems to do just that pretty well.

Party Mix (2008-09-26)

October 13th, 2008

I recorded a mix a few weeks ago, but didn’t get the chance to put it up for download until now. It’s meant to be a party mix, and fits on a CD (on purpose hehe). I also wanted to try out a couple of new tracks to see how they fit in there.

Other Party Mix Available (2008-07-12)

September 23rd, 2008

Here’s a mix I recorded a couple of months ago… The genres were a special request from a friend: Electro, House then Trance (it was a party for his birthday… that was the least I could do hehe). I have to say I’m particularly pleased with the progression, going from smooth/relax electro music to popular and simply classic house, then to melodic vocal trance.

New Mix Available (2008-09-19)

September 23rd, 2008

I recently (last friday) recorded a new “chillout” mix — the kind of mix to play at the beginning of a party, to let the people warm up before playing real dance/party tracks.

From what I’ve seen, it seems to work pretty well 🙂

This mix contains mainly electro/house tracks, and has the tracks labeled as chapters (see the Chapters menu if you play the file in iTunes) in the file. Let me know what you think (leave a comment) if you get to listen to it!

Dumping Memory

September 14th, 2008

Here’s a small utility function (in C) that I wrote, to dump the memory’s contents at a specified address. It’s nothing big but can be useful when debugging code.
